Prof Jahangir joins RUET as new VC

RAJSHAHI, Aug 20 (BSS): Professor Jahangir Alam has joined Rajshahi University of Engineering and Technology (RUET) today as its new Vice-chancellor (VC) after the post remained vacant for over one-year.

Prior to the new assignment, he was in the department of civil engineering at Chattogram University of Engineering and Technology (CUET).

Earlier on August 13, Prof Jahangir Alam was given appointment as RUET VC for a four-year term as per the order of President and Chancellor.

Meanwhile, Prof Alam at a meeting today exchanged pleasantries with all faculty deans, departmental heads and office heads and gathered information about the present academic, administrative and development activities today.

He also shared views with teachers, officers and employees discussing and devising ways and means on how to brighten the image of RUET by producing quality students.

After completing his study on civil engineering in the then Chittagong Engineering College in 1984, Jahangir Alam began his teaching career in the same department.

An earthquake expert, Prof Alam worked as faculty dean and department head and director during his long teaching career.
