Prog for seven roads\\\' dev in Sylhet division undertaken

SYLHET, June 29: Roads & Highways department has taken a programme worth Tk 1.0 billion (one hundred crore) for reconstruction of 85 kilometre on different important roads in the Sylhet division soon. Twenty seven culverts and 6 bridges on 7 roads would also be constructed under the programme, official sources informed.
Contacted, the Additional Chief engineer Iftekhar Kabir, R & H, Sylhet zone told this correspondent Friday, a project in this connection was approved at the ECNEC last week. "We would have to complete the Tk 999.6 million (Tk 99.96 cr) works in 2 years, 2015-2016 and 2016-2017 fiscal," he said.
Works would be done on Darbast-Kanaighat-Shahbag road, Rashidpur-Biswanath-Rampasha-Lamakazi road and on Sylhet-Daudabad-Daudpur-Bhadeswar-Mirganj road in Sylhet district at a total cost of Tk 281.6 million.
Reconstruction of Shaistaganj-Puranbazar-Kolimnagar road and Baniachang-Nabiganj road and construction of 4 bridges on Habiganj-Baniachang road in Habiganj district would cost Tk 277.8 million. Only the Kulaura-Shamshernagar-Srimangal road reconstruction and construction of a bridge and 16 culverts on the same in Moulvibazar would cost Tk 221.2 million. Lowest Tk 215 million would be spent for Sunamganj-Kachirgati-Biswambharpur road and Gobindaganj-Chhatak-Doarabazar-Sunamganj road in Sunamganj district, the official informed. On implementation of the project, the regional road network would be improved much, since the roads connect the 4 district headquarters with their upazilas, the official noted.
