Prospect of T-Aman bright in Nilphamari, Gopalganj

NILPHAMARI, Aug 20: Consecutive rain for the last few days created favourable condition for the transplanted Aman production in Nilphamari district.
Drought like situation that continued for more than a month caused drying up of the T Aman plants particularly in the semi-highlands. Now the plants gained new life and are growing as expected. The farmers are now engaged in weeding the Aman farmland and spreading fertilizer.
While contacted Abu Taleb, a grower of Gomnati UP of Domar Upazila said he cultivated Aman in five bigha of land in semi-highland which was dried up during the drought like situation. But the plants are now turning green coloured and growing fast.
While contacted one official of DAE said prospect of T Aman is now very bright due to recent rain for the last few days.
Gopalganj
Our Correspondent in Gopalganj adds: Cultivation of Transplanted Aman (T-Aman) paddy has begun in full swing of the district in current season.
According to the Department of Agricultural Extension (DAE), Gopalganj, DAE has set a target of Aman paddy cultivation for the district on 4150 hectares of land and with a production target of 10370 metric tonnes (MT) this year.
Atul Krishna Mallik, Deputy Director (DD), Agriculture, Gopalganj said for Aman cultivation they supplied fertiliser, pesticides with necessary equipment to the farmers. BADC distributed high quality of seeds among the farmers. He also said farmers will achieve target if the climate remains favourable. Besides, Agricultural are officials rendering field level services'', he added.
Bangladesh Krishi Bank (BKB) and other commercial banks in Gopalganj are distributing short-term loan to the farmers of the district for cultivation of Aman paddy.
