Rabi crop farming going on in Gopalganj

GOPALGANJ, Jan 27: A total of 1,09,896 hectares of land have been brought under the cultivation of different Rabi crops in the district to produce 4,82,799 tonnes of output this season.
According to the Department of Agriculture Extension (DAE), Gopalganj official sources, of the total, 77,896 hectares of land have been brought under Boro cultivation with the production target of 3,42,572 tonnes of yield.
Vegetable is being farmed on 3,650 hectares of land to produce 55,049 tonnes of output.
Besides, wheat is cultivated on 7,550 hectares of land, mustard on 3,530 hectares, maize on 60 hectares, onion on 2,825 hectares, lentil on 4,050 hectares and other pulses on 9,520 hectares of land.
A total of 165 hectares of land have been brought under garlic cultivation, green pea on 390 hectares and potato on 260 hectares of land.
Samir Kumar Goshwami, deputy director (Agriculture), Gopalganj, said necessary inputs like seeds, fertilisers and pesticides are distributed free of cost among some selected farmers during the current Rabi season.
