Rajshahi MP declared unwanted by RU teachers, students

RAJSHAHI UNIVERSITY, Apr 20: Protesting the incident of assaulting Rajshahi University (RU) Vice Chancellor, teachers and students of the varsity have declared Rajshahi lawmaker Omar Faruque Chowdhury unwanted yesterday.

The teachers and students of the university protested the incident through different programmes.

Under the banner of Progressive Teachers Society (PTS), general teacher's parishad and students of different departments raised their voice against the assault and demanded punishment to the accused from separate processions, rallies and human chain programmes on the campus.

About three hundred progressive teachers brought out a silent procession from university Senate Building and the procession terminated at the same place in a gathering.

Presiding by acting convenor of PTS Professor Mamunur Rashid Talukder, RU Teachers Association (RUTA) president Prof Ananda Kumar Saha, administrator of central library Safikunnabi Samadi addressed the gathering, conducted by Statistics Department Associate Professor Dr. Md. Jahanur Rahman.

Meanwhile, chairman council, provost council and deans' committee of Rajshahi University also protested the incident separtely through a press release.
