Rajshahi, Satkhira road accidents kill four

A total of four persons were killed in separate road accidents in Rajshahi and Satkhira districts on Wednesday, reports BSS
In Rajshahi, three persons, including a woman, were killed in two separate road accidents in Godagari upazila in the district on Wednesday.
Police said the deceased were identified as Marzina Khatun, 50, Monirul Islam, 48, and Milon Ali, 38.
Ataur Rahman, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Godagari Police Station, told the news agency that Marzina Khatun was killed on the spot when a pickup van knocked her down from behind. She was walking beside the road around 5.30 am.
Meanwhile, auto-rickshaw driver Monirul Islam and his passenger Milon Ali were also killed on the spot when a passenger bus dashed their auto-rickshaw at the upazila headquarters around 8.30 am.
Police seized the bus along with detaining its driver. Two separate cases were recorded with Godagari Police Station in these connections.
In Satkhira, a man was killed and seven others were injured after being hit by a passenger bus on the Satkhira-Khulna highway in front of the power grid substation under Sadar upazila of the district on Wednesday.
The deceased was identified as Sunil Kumar Mandal, 45, son of late Upendranath Mandal, resident of Binerpota Dakshinpara village under Sadar upazila of the district.
Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Satkhira Sadar Police Station Mohammad Rafiqul Islam said the accident occurred when a passenger bus hit a locally-made engine-run vehicle (Nosimon) in the area around 5:30 am while they were going to Satkhira for fishing, leaving Sunil Kumar dead on the spot and injuring seven others.
The injured were taken to Satkhira Sadar Hospital, the OC said.
Legal action will be taken in this connection, he added.
