Rangpur carrot growers getting good yield

RANGPUR, Feb 13: The carrot growers in the district are getting a good yield of their produce during this current season.

Babul Mia, a peasant of Pallimari village at Kawnia upazila told the FE correspondent that he had cultivated carrot on one 40 decimals of land. He has already earned over Tk 12,000 from the sale of his produce and is expecting to earn more profit during the rest of the season, he said.

Rashedul, another farmer of Kukrul area in Rangpur city said that he has cultivated carrot on 35 decimals of land. Due to early harvest he could make satisfactory profit from its sale in markets. He expressed satisfaction over abundant production of the crop this year.

Sources said that witnessing good output as well as satisfactory profit many cultivators expressed their hope to expand its farming during the next season.

According to Department of Agriculture Extension (DAE) Rangpur official sources the soil of many areas in the district is very suitable for carrot cultivation. So it is being cultivated in plenty in many areas. Farmers have been also earning good profit from the cultivation of the vegetable in recent years.

DAE sources said growers are given necessary advice and assistance by the DAE officials in this regard.
