GAIBANDHA, Mar 9 (BSS): A reception was accorded to 13 Joyeetas (winning women) of the district here on Sunday marking the International Women's Day (IWD).
BRAC, a leading non-governmental organisation, arranged the reception under its Social Empowerment Programme.
The joyeetas were selected by a committee of BRAC as per the directives of the Ministry of Women and Children Affairs, the organiser of the programme said.
The women were Rashida Begum, Anwara Begum, Ramisa Begum, Ameena Begum, Laxmi Rani, Shamsunnahar Begum, Morsheda Begum, Mazeda Beoya, Shibali Rani, Selina Begum, Bela Begum, Rita Rani and Hashu Akter.
Deputy Commissioner M. Ehsan-e-Elahi attended the reception and distributed the prizes to the winners as the chief guest. Each of the winners received a vanity bag, a wrapper and cash Tk 700.
