Reducing environmental degradation stressed

RANGPUR, Jan 6 (BSS): Speakers at a leaflet distribution campaign have put importance on promoting eco-friendly industrialisation for saving the planet reducing health hazards, degradation of environment, ecology and bio-diversity.

Profit Foundation conducted the day-long campaign and distributed 2,000 leaflets among the common people to create public awareness on environmental degradation at Tushbhandar Bazar and Chaparhat areas under Kaliganj upazila in Lalmonirhat district on Monday.

Headmaster of Chaparhat High School Zahedul Islam, Health Assistant Shariful Islam, union parishad member Mohammad Aftabuzzaman, Technical Officer of Profit Foundation Subal Chandra Roy took part in the campaign and addressed the street rallies.

While addressing the street rallies, the speakers highly lauded the initiative of Profit Foundation and stressed checking environmental degradation and find out the way-outs to save the planet and civilisation from catastrophes.

To ensure a safer planet for the next generations, they called upon all to reduce emission of green house gases, industrial smokes, release poisonous wastes and stop indiscriminate felling of trees.

They said environmental degradation has created severe threat to the civilisation and urged for creating awareness among all citizens.
