Rehabilitation of Hijras urged

CHAPAINAWABGANJ, Feb 16 (BSS): Speakers at a meeting here said the Hijras (trans-sexual) should be rehabilitated to be taken into the main stream of the society.

They added the Hijras should be given proper counseling so that they do not involve in open sex which makes them vulnerable to HIV/AIDS.

They also stressed on government initiatives side by side of the non-government initiatives for the rehabilitation of the Hijras. If they can be rehabilitated, they would be able to contribute to the development of the society and the nation, they added.

Non-government organization Light House arranged the meeting at its centre at Arambag in the town yesterday.
