Road accident kills two in Sherpur

SHERPUR, May 17 (UNB): Two people were killed and four others injured in a road accident at Kandapara in Sherpur district town on Thursday.

The deceased were identified as Khoka Mia, 22, son of Riaz Uddin of Kandapara village and Babar Ali, 35, son of Nefaz Uddin of Tatalpur village in Sadar upazila.

Quoting witnesses, police said the accident took place around 7:30 am when a Sherpur-bound chicken-laden pick-up van from Jhenigati first hit Babar Ali and then a human hauler, leaving Babar dead on the spot and five passengers of the human hauler injured.

The injured were taken to Sherpur District Hospital where the doctors declared Khoka Mia dead, said Nazrul Islam, officer-in-charge of Sadar Police Station.
