TANGAIL, May 17 (BSS): A police personnel was killed in a road accident at Goalchattar area under Bangabandhu Bridge Purba thana in the district this morning.
The deceased was Abdul Majid, 50, son of Lohai Pramanik of Chandripur village under Ullapara thana in Sirajganj district.
Police said the accident occurred when a Dhaka-bound bus of Shyamoli Paribahan hit a standing police van in the area at about 5 am as its driver lost control over the vehicle, leaving Majid critically injured.
He was sent to Tangail Medical College Hospital. Later, Majid died on the way to Dhaka at about 9.30 am.
Another BSS report says: A septuagenarian was killed in a road accident in Sirajkandi area under Bhuapur Upazila here this morning. The deceased is Moydan Ali, 70, a resident in Punarbasan area of the Upazila.
Police said the accident occurred when a sand-laden truck hit him in the area while he was crossing the road, leaving him dead on the spot.
A BSS report from Munshiganj says: Two persons including a kid were killed in two separate road accidents in Char Muktarpur area of the town this morning.
The deceased are Jahangir Alam, 25, a driver of locally made vehicle and Konika, 6.
Officer in charge of Sadar thana Md Yunus Ali said the one accident occurred when a truck hit Jahangir while he was standing the roadside, leaving him seriously injured.
Local people took him to hospital where doctor declared him dead.
Besides, an auto rickshaw hit Konika while she was crossing the road with her brother, leaving her injured.
Later, she was taken to Munshiganj Sadar hospital where doctor declared her dead.
UNB report from Sirajganj: Two people were killed and seven others injured in a collision between a bus and CNG-run auto-rickshaw in Jora bridge area of Ullapara upazila on Saturday night.
The deceased was identified as Jharna Begum, 40, wife of Abdul Wahab of Kamarkhanda upazila, and Abdul Halim, 45, resident of Choriasikha village of Solonga upazila.
