Two persons were killed in separate road accidents in Jhenaidah and Gopalganj districts on Thursday, reports BSS.
Three persons, including two children, were killed and seven others injured in a collision between a battery-run van and a pickup in Kotchandpur upazila of Jhenidah on Tuesday.
The dead are two-month-old Rafan, hailed from Elangi village in Kotchandpur upazila, Khuku Moni (7), an inhabitant at Balakanda village under Kaliganj upazila, and van driver Saleman Uddin, a resident in Kaliganj upazila.
Local people said the accident occurred on Thursday afternoon in Kashipur area on Kaliganj-Jibannagar Road. Rafan, Khuku Moni, and Saleman Uddin died on the spot.
Of the injured, five people were sent to Jashore General Hospital.
Officer-in-Charge of Kotchandpur thana Moin Uddin said police seized the pickup.
A case was filed in this regard.
Meanwhile, a motorbiker was killed and his co-rider injured in a road accident at Fukra on the Dhaka-Khulna Highway under Kashiani upazila of the district on Thursday.
The dead is Rafiqul Islam Russel (36), hailed from Khulna city.
Officer-in-charge (OC) of Vatiapara Highway thana Shariful Islam said the accident occurred in the area when a motorcycle hit a roadside tree, losing control over it, leaving both, the rider and co-rider, injured on the spot.
The wounded were taken to Kashiani Upazila Health Complex where the duty doctor declared Russel's dead.
"Injured Jahid was shifted to Khulna as his condition deteriorated," the OC said, adding that Rafiq and Jahid were heading towards Khulna from Cox's Bazar riding the motorcycle.
