Road accidents kill three in Ctg, Munshiganj

CHATTOGRAM, Apr 17 (BSS): Two women were killed as a bus and truck knocked them in separate road accidents in the district on Tuesday.
The deceased were identified as Sajeda Begum, 42, wife of Akter Hossain and Lutfa Begum, 34, wife of Mohammad Rubel, both hailed from Mirsarai upazila of the district.
Police said the accident occurred on the Dhaka-Chattogram Highway when the Chattogram-bound passengers bus knocked pedestrian Sajeda in Nezampur area from behind, leaving her critically injured.
The injured woman was taken to the Chattogram Medical College and Hospital where the attending doctors declared her dead.
Lutfa Begum died on the spot by knocking a goods-laden truck in Bortakia of Mirsarai upazila at 7 am on Tuesday, said assistant sub-inspector (ASI) Alauddin Talukder of Chattagram Medical College Hospital (CMCH) police outpost.
Another report from Munshiganj adds: A pedestrian was killed in a road accident in Shantinagar area on Dhaka-Chattogram Highway under Gazaria upazila of the district on Tuesday.
The victim was identified as Md Ali Akber Hossain, 50, a resident of Char Baoshia village of the upazila.
Police said the accident occurred at around 9 am in the Shantinagar area on the road when Akber was crossing the road, leaving him critically injured.
Later, he was sent to a nearby hospital where the duty doctor declared him dead.
