BAGERHAT, June 01 (BSS): A motorbike rider was killed and another injured as a bus hit their bike near Fire Service office in Morelganj upazila of the district on Thursday morning.
The deceased was identified as Delwar Talukder, 40, son of Motaleb Talukder, a resident of manikjore village of the upazila.
Police said the accident occurred when a bus hit the motorbike in the area from opposite direction, leaving two motorbike riders injured.
The injured were sent to a local hospital where Delwar succumbed to his injuries.
Meanwhile, UNB adds: In Jhenidah, a bicyclist was killed as a truck hit him on Jhenidah-Jessore road in Bakulia Khayertola area of Kaliganj upazila on Thursday morning.
Officer-in-charge of Kaliganj Police Station Aminul Islam said a sand-laden truck hit Abdur Razzak, 50, at 8:00 am from behind while he was riding his bicycle, leaving him dead on the spot.
Police seized the truck, added the OC.
In Comilla, a customs official was killed in a road accident in Chandina-Bagur bus station area of the district on Wednesday.
Victim Sirajul Islam, 56, was a customs official of Chandina Circle of Cmilla customs office, said Sub-Inspector Mostafa Kamal, a sergeant of Iliotganj Highway Police outpost.
The SI said that the accident took place in the area when a lorry hits Sirajul, son of Hazi Abdul Goni of Palpara village of Daudkandi upazila of the district while he was crossing the road. He died on the spot.
Later, on information, police recovered the body.
