Road crashes claim two lives

BANDARBAN, May 27 (BSS): A woman was killed in a road accident on VIP road near Hill View Hospital under Sadar upazila of the town on Sunday morning.

The deceased was identified as Krishna De, 55, wife of hotel owner Babu De of Roangchhori Bus stand area of the district.

Police said the accident occurred when a stone-laden truck ran over Krishna in the area around 10 am as she was visiting her grandson in the Hill View Hospital.

She died on the spot. The body was sent to Sadar Hospital morgue.

Police detained the truck but its driver managed to flee.

A case was filed in this connection.

Meanwhile, in Jhalakathi, a boy was killed as an auto rickshaw hit him in Rajapur upazila of the district on Sunday morning.

The victim was identified as Rony Munshi, 05, son of Harun Munshi, a resident of Poshchim Badurtola village.

Police said the accident occurred at about 10 am in front of Shohag Clinic on the Barisal-Bhandaria road when Rony was crossing the road with his mother.

Critically injured Rony was admitted to Rajapur Upazila Health Complex where the duty doctor declared him dead.
