Road crashes in districts kill five

A total of five persons were killed in separate road accidents in Chandpur, Habiganj, Naogaon and Jamalpur districts on Monday and Sunday night, report agencies.

In Chandpur, a man and his son were killed and three others injured in a head-on collision between a pickup van and a CNG-run auto rickshaw on the Chandpur-Cumilla regional road in Goghra area under Hajiganj upazila of the district on Monday.

The deceased were identified as Abu Taher Molla, 55, and his son Mamun Molla, 25, residents of Molla Bari of Gandabyapur union under Hajiganj upazila of the district.

In Habiganj, an elderly man was killed and eight others were injured in a head-on collision between a private car and a CNG-run auto rickshaw on the Dhaka-Sylhet old highway in Notun Bazar area under Bahubal upazila of the district on Monday.

The deceased was identified as Abdus Sobhan, 70, a resident of Sughar village in Sadar upazila.

In Naogaon, a 9-year old boy was killed as a passenger bus crushed him in Mohadevpur upazila of the district on Monday morning.

The deceased was identified as Badhon, son of Shamim, resident of Gotgori Khudiadanga village of the upazila.

In Jamalpur, a truck driver was killed as his vehicle overturned in Madarganj Upazila of the district on Monday.

Police identified the deceased as Saidur Rahman, 40, son of Kandu Miah at village Gopalganj in Saturia Upazila of Manikganj district.
