Road crashes kill eight in Feni, Sitakunda, Jhenaidah, Naogaon

A total of eight persons were killed in separate road accidents in Feni, Sitakunda, Jhenaidah and Naogaon districts on Thursday, report agencies.
In Feni, at least three people, including two women, were killed and 10 others injured when a speeding bus lost control and ploughed into a roadside shop in Daganbhuiyan upazila of Feni district on Thursday.
Two of the deceased were identified as Shamim Ara Begum, 50, wife of Shahidullah from Khushipur area, Md Shraban, 20, son of Abdul Matin from Dakshin Jaylaskar village of the upazila.
Officer-in-charge (OC) of Mohipal Highway Police Station Harunur Rashid said the accident occurred around 10:15am when the Noakhali-bound bus of 'Sugandha Paribahan' from Feni Sadar skidded and hit an electric pole before crashing into the shop on Feni-Noakhali regional road near the entrance of Lucky Road adjacent to Silonia Bazar.
The accident left at least 13 people injured, he said.
In Chattogram, a woman and her daughter were killed on Thursday when a Dhaka-bound Mahanagar Express train collided with a CNG-run auto-rickshaw at Moulvibhara in Sitakunda.
The victims were identified as Maksuda Begum, 45, a resident of Boro Kumira Bazar in Sitakunda upazila and her daughter Sanjida Sultana, 25.
In Jhenaidah, two people, including a child were killed and another injured in a road accident at Atharomail Bazar area under Sadar upazila on Thursday afternoon.
The deceased were identified as Nazrul Islam, 65, son of late Nizam Uddin of Nagar Bathan village, and his grandson Sifat Hossain, 8, a resident of Jibannagar upazila.
In Naogaon, a Union Parishad (UP) chairman was killed after being run over by a power tiller-operated trolley in Patnitala upazila of the district on Thursday afternoon.
The deceased was identified as Habibur Rahman, chairman of Nazipur Union Parishad and former joint convener of Patnitala upazila BNP.
