GAZIPUR, Aug 20 (UNB): An alleged robber was beaten to death in a lynch-mob attack in Meghnal area of the city early Wednesday.
The identity of the deceased could not be known immediately.
Locals said a gang of 5-6 robbers entered the house of Shafi Uddin in the area at about 2:30 am and looted valuables.
At one stage, the bandits stabbed house inmate Jamila as she tried to resist them.
Hearing hue and cry of other inmates, locals chased off the robbers and caught one of them.
Later, the mob beat the robber mercilessly, leaving him dead on the spot.
However, the other associates of the robber managed to flee with the booty.
