Robbers loot 5 jewellery shops in Pabna

PABNA, Mar 3: Armed robbers looted five jewellery and two grocery shops in Nakalia bazar of Bera Upazila in Pabna early Monday.  Over 2 hundred bhori of golden ornaments, 12 hundred bhori of silver and cash Tk. 0.6 million worth of Tk. 20 million.  

According to victims a gang of armed robbers numbering 30 to 35 entered the Nakalia bazar travelling on two boats at about 2am Monday. Armed robbers confined the night guard Muttakim Islam and Nazar Ali of the market showing arms.

Police said the robbers looted ornaments from the five jewellery shops of Pronob Karmakar, Panushil Karmakar, Ronjit Kundu and Anis Karmakar of the market. They also looted the grocery shops of Siddikur Rahman and Sukumar Sen.

Fake medicine factory unearthed

Another report says: Law enforcers unearthed a fake veterinary medicine factory and also held two people from Singa village of the Pabna Sadar Upazila Sunday. Detective branch of police (DB police) conducted the drive on a secret information.     

The arrestees are identified as Md. Shamim Hossain, 33, of Faridpur in Pabna and Ishaque Ali, 28 of Singa village of Pabna.

Shamim Hossain was operating the fake factory in name of 'Premier Farma Vet' in a rented house of the village since long, the SI said. According to the information from the locals police conducted drive and seized a huge fake veterinary medicines and materials.
