PABNA, July 29: Department of Agricultural Extension (DAE) has taken up a massive plan to cultivate different Robi crops in nine upazilas of the district during the current season.
DAE office sources said, a total of 1, 47,072 hectares of land would be brought under the cultivation in the district with the production target of 9, 04,924 tonnes of different crops.
Of the total, some 1, 09,420 hectares of land would be brought under Boro cultivation with the production target of 4,42,558 tonnes of rice, 400 hectares of land under wheat cultivation to produce 1,200 tonnes, 400 hectares of land under potato cultivation with the production target of 80,000 tonnes, 2,000 hectares of land under sweet potato cultivation for producing 33,000 tonnes.
Besides, mustard would be cultivated on 6,580 hectares of land with the production target of 7,896 tonnes of mustard, ground nut on 300 hectares for producing 450 tonnes, sugarcane on 260 hectares with the production target of 12,840 tonnes, vegetables on 17,760 hectares to produce 3,32,112 tonnes, various pulse on 1,832 hectares with the production target of 1,962 tonnes.
Onion will be cultivated on 600 hectares with the production target of 4,800 tonnes, garlic on 640 hectares to produce 4,160 tonnes, chili on 2,660 hectares with the production target of 3,590 tonnes and coriander on 620 hectares for producing 716 tonnes of coriander. motiarfe@gmail.com
