RU opens vet faculty

RAJSHAHI, Nov 02: The faculty of Veterinary and Animal Sciences has been launched in Rajshahi University (RU).

Confirming the matter Prof Dr SM Kamruzzaman, former Chairman of Veterinary and Animal Sciences department, said, "The University Grants Commission (UGC) approved the inauguration of the new faculty in March this year after the approval of the Academic Council of the university.

In the 252nd Academic Council meeting of the university the Vice-chancellor declared the initiation of the new faculty. The Vice-chancellor will act as the Dean of the new faculty until a dean is appointed."

Primarily, the faculty will have one department under it, the department of Veterinary and Animal Sciences, he added.

With the new faculty Rajshahi University now has 11 faculties with 59 departments under them.
