Rajshahi University (RU) will reopen on March 10, after an unscheduled closure of over a month due to campus violence. The decision was taken at a meeting of the RU Syndicate held Monday.
As per the decision, the university dormitories will be reopened on March 9. However, there will remain a ban on all kinds of processions and rallies on the campus until further announcement.
On February 2, authorities closed the Rajshahi University for an indefinite period after over 100 students were injured, including 30 with bullets, in attacks by police and Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) men on the campus.
Meanwhile, the High Court Monday asked the authorities concerned to inform it in a week as to whether the incident of police firing on the RU students is being probed and any case has been lodged against the armed attackers, according to a news agency.
