RU teacher elected TWAS member

RAJSHAHI UNIVERSITY, Nov 06: Professor Dr Saleh Hasan Naqib, a physics department teacher of Rajshahi University, has been nominated as a fellow of The World Academy of Sciences (TWAS) for his contribution to the advancement of science.

The membership was granted in the General Meeting of TWAS on November 01, a part of the 15th TWAS General Conference that continued from November 01 to November 04.

The official TWAS website described Prof Naqib to be leading the theoretical condensed matter research group in Physics. It also stated that his group ranks at the top in Bangladesh in terms of scientific productivity in condensed matter physics.

Prof Naqib published 116 papers in reputed international journals and his papers have been cited over 1700 times till date. He was a regular associate at the Abdus Salam International Centre for Theoretical Physics (ICTP) and is a Fellow of the Bangladesh Academy of Sciences (BAS).

In recognition of his research excellence, he received the TWAS Prize for Young Scientists in Developing Countries and has been nominated for the Bangladesh Academy of Sciences Gold Medal in the senior scientist category. His publication won the University Grants Commission Award in 1997 and the Razzaq-Shamshun Physics Research award in 2006. For research excellence, he received the Deans Award in 2018.
