RU teachers, students demand proper trial of Sifat murder case

RAJSHAHI UNIVERSITY, Apr 6: The teachers and students of Mass Communication & Journalism (MCJ) department at Rajshahi University (RU) Monday formed a human chain and held a street meeting demanding proper investigation of Wahida Sifat murder case and exemplary punishment of the culprits.
On Monday at 11.30am about two hundred teachers and students of the department formed a human chain in front of RU central library.
Later they gathered in a short meeting at the department premises, conducted by the department's former student and also the bureau chief of Jamuna TV, Bogra office.
MCJ dept head Prof. Tanveer Ahmed, Dr. Pradeep Kumar, Dr. Mustaq Ahmed, Prof. Shatil Siraj, Mahbubur Rahman and Mozammel Hossain Bokul spoke at the meeting.
It is mentioned that three separate cases were filed against Shifat's husband Mohammed Asif, father-in-law Mohammad Hossain Ramjan and mother-in-law Nazmun Nahar at Rajpara police station on April 2.
