RAJSHAHI UNIVERSITY, Apr 6: The teachers and students of Rajshahi University (RU) have protested against the plan to set up Motihar police station inside the campus.
The general students under the banner of Progressive Students Alliance (PSA) yesterday expressed their protest against the plan from a procession in the campus.
Earlier on March 31 last, from the 458th syndicate meeting the university authority took a decision to set up a police outpost inside the RU campus following a proposal from the higher officials of Rajshahi Metropolitan Police (RMP). BNP backed two syndicate members gave their note of dissent on the decision.
PSA leaders said if a thana and a police outpost are set up inside the campus, it will disrupt the education environment of RU.
