RWASA field level staff asked for ensuring safe water supply

RAJSHAHI, May 27 (BSS): Speakers at a training session in Rajshahi Tuesday have urged the field level staff of Rajshahi Water Supply and Sewerage Authority (RWASA) to perform their duties with utmost sincerity and honesty for ensuring safe drinking water supply.
They viewed the field level staff, especially pump operators and pipeline mechanics, are the key players to ensure safe water from source to all consumers for the sake of protecting the city dwellers especially the poor and extreme poor ones from various waterborne diseases.
They were addressing the inaugural session of a two-day training styled "Capacity Building on Water Safety Plan" for the RWASA pump operators and pipeline mechanics in the conference hall of Rajshahi Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
Sachetan and Water Sanitation for the Urban Poor (WSUP) jointly organised the training in association with RWASA, Department of Public Health Engineering and World Health Organisation.
Main thrust of the programme was to sensitize the pump operators and pipeline mechanics on the aspects and background of safe water planning, operational plan, standard operating system and their role and responsibility.
