Safty of women, children in flood-hit areas discussed

NETRAKONA, Aug 31 (BSS): Speakers at a discussion titled 'Methods for safeguarding women and children in the flood-hit areas' here today underlined the need for constructing separate flood-shelters with bathrooms and toilets, ensuring proper health care and security arrangements to make sure safe stay of women and children in flood -affected areas during the period of flood.
They also emphasized the need for creating mass awareness about the necessity of taking special arrangements or providing proper accommodation facilities in flood-shelter centres during the time of the natural calamity for keeping their lives free from danger and other social problems including sexual harassments.
Jonoudduk Netrakona, a service -oriented organization, in cooperation with Institute for environment and development (IED) Netrakona organized the discussion at the conference room of Netrakona Press Club. Mayor of Netrakona Pourashava Prasanta Kumar Ray addressed it as the chief guest while a senior member of the Jonoudduk Haider Jahan Chowdhory was in the chair.
