RANGPUR, Sept 15 (BSS): Speakers at an orientation workshop here have stressed for ensuring sanitation and pure drinking water facilities for the backward and poor rural people to improve their life standard in building a healthier nation.
Water and Sanitation Team of Rangpur district office of 'ASA' organised the workshop at Training Centre of RDRS Bangladesh under water and sanitation programme being implemented at its own costs in 24 districts under Corporate Social Responsibility.
The main goals of the programme are to assist the poor and distressed people in setting up sanitary latrines and creating easier access to safe drinking water facilities in rural areas under the Water and Sanitation Programme of the NGO.
Deputy Director (Water & Sanitation) of the NGO Abu Hasnat attended and addressed the workshop as the chief guest while it's Rangpur Zonal Manager Abed Ali was present as the special guest.
Presided over by Rangpur District Manager of 'ASA' Golam Kibria Tipu, Branch Managers, Zonal Managers, Regional Mangers and Sanitation Officers of the NGO from all over Rangpur Region participated in the daylong orientation workshop.
The speakers said that 'ASA' has launched the programme for enhancing expertise of the local entrepreneurs, traders and field level employees of the NGO in innovating, producing and setting up of the high-tech sanitary latrines.
The programme also aims at extending marketing facilities of sanitation materials for the entrepreneurs and providing easy-term loan at lower interest rate among poor to assist them in purchasing sanitary materials and arranging facilities for pure drinking water.
Another goal of the programme is to turn the business of sanitation materials into a social venture and business through providing all necessary assistance including creation of marketing value chain system, they said.
Deputy Director (Water & Sanitation) of the NGO Abu Hasnat said a target of providing training to 720 sanitation entrepreneurs and traders of 24 districts in the country has been set up for the current fiscal year.
