Saudi expatriate beaten dead over land dispute

 GAZIPUR, June 6 (UNB): A Saudi expatriate was beaten to death allegedly by his uncle at Rathura Belun village in Kaliganj Upazila on Saturday.

The deceased was identified as Zillur Rahman (35), a resident of the village.

Witnesses said Zillur, who had come to his village home two weeks ago, locked in an altercation with his uncle Najuk Mia over the ownership of a piece of land around 11 am.

At one stage, Najuk beat up Zillur with a stick mercilessly, leaving him dead on the spot.

Police recovered the body and sent it to Sadar Hospital morgue for an autopsy.
