Second unit of Rajshahi Jute Mills to restart soon, says minister

RAJSHAHI, Mar 17: Textile and Jute Minister Imazuddin Pramanik has announced to restart the second unit of Rajshahi Jute Mills soon.
Minister Imazuddin Pramanik announced this while talking as chief guest at an exchange of view meeting with officials and employees of RJM at the board room of the mills on Sunday.
The minister said, during the tenure of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, no jute mills will be sold rather closed jute mills will be reopened and as a part of this, the second unit of RJM will be reopened.
He said, during the rule of last alliance government, some jute mills were sold and a decision was taken to sell Rajshahi Jute Mills as well. But, thinking the plight of poverty stricken people, RJM has been restarted once again.
He further mentioned, the works of establishing second unit of RJM has been started where 206 weaving and milling machine will be set up. He said, there will be an employment opportunity of 1,200 people after the restarting of the second unit. He further said, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman had declared to nationalize jute mills of the country.
