Security beefed up in Khulna for Ramadan, Eid-ul-Fitr

KHULNA, Jul 1(BSS): The Khulna Metropolitan Police authorities have taken tight security measures for holy month of Ramadan and Eid-ul-Fitr.

The measures were taken at a meeting at the KMP headquarters recently with police commissioner Shafiqur Rahman in the chair.

Senior police officers, including the deputy commissioners, chief of crime division, traffic division and detective police attended the meeting, sources said.

The meeting decided to set up 18 check posts under eight police stations in KMP.

A total of 2,000 police will ensure security to all the shopping malls, markets, important places including Newmarket, Borobazar, Sonadanga and Picture Palace area in the city. The police will ensure security to all the buyers and will not allow anyone to disturb smooth traffic movement.

To make the security effective, the police will remain on patrol duty and mobile police team will patrol at all important and risky places in the city.

A control room will be set up at the KMP headquarters and coordinate with all the law enforcing agencies in the city.

Besides, river police and traffic police will also ensure security at all the shopping malls and markets till Eid-ul-Fitr and take measures so that none could create anarchy during Eid shopping and create traffic congestion.

The police will also ensure security at the bus terminals, railway stations and launch terminals. The police will also provide escort to carry cash from one place to another.
