CHAPAINAWABGANJ, Apr 13 (BSS): As part of the national programme, seeds and fertiliser distribution free of cost among the small and marginal farmers is nearing completion here.
Department of Agriculture Extension (DAE) has been distributing the seeds of Aus of high yielding variety (HYV) and Nerika variety and fertilizers during the current Kharif season with a view to inspiring farmers.
According to DAE sources, a total of 8,675 small and marginal farmers are getting the seeds and fertilizers. Of them, 3,120 farmers are in Sadar upazila, 3,515 in Shibganj, 925 in Gomostapur, 550 in Nachole and 575 in Bholahat upazila.
The sources added that each of the HYV Aus farmers is getting 20 kg of urea, 10 kg of DAP, 10 kg of MOP and 5 kg of seeds and each of the farmers who would cultivate Nerika Aus is getting 20 kg of urea, 10 kg of DAP, 10 kg of MOP, 10 kg of seeds, Taka 300 for irrigation and Taka 300 for removing weeds.
The distribution started on April 2 last and meanwhile it has been completed in Nachole, Gomostapur and Bholahat upazilas. It is still going on in Sadar and Shibganj upazilas and will be completed within two or three days, the sources further added.
