Seminar on tax issue held in Nilphamari

NILPHAMARI, Oct 29: A day long seminar on tax justice issue for grassroot campaigners was held in Nilphamari on Tuesday. Held in the conferrence room of NGO Supath, the semimar was organised by Supro, a national NGO and was participated by representatives of other NGOs such as Jamuna Nari Unnayan Somiti, RDRS, Grameen Somaj Unnayan Sangstha, Doridro Bimochan Songstha, Teesta Bohumukhi Somaj Kalyan Songstha, Supath, Nilchok along with representatives of Nilphamari municipality.
The seminar highlited  the importance of  reducing VAT on bare necessary commodities for lowering the price of those the poor people generally consume. The seminar urged to intensify drive to find out taxable persons, increase income tax collection, incorporation of tax related subjects in textbooks of the students of school and colleges.
The seminar aimed to create consciousness among the citizenes of the country to pay tax regularly so that the government can initiate development schemes of the country in greater volume.  It also summarised the necessity of decentralisation of revenue administration, modernisation of it , formation of progressive tax policy and reformation  of tax related regulation  and  so on.
