FARIDPUR, Mar 22 (BSS): Speakers at a seminar organised in connection with the observance of World Water Day stressed the need for rational use of water in view of the availability of safe water due to contamination of the water sources in our country.
The seminar organised by NGO Forum for public health was held at the conference room of the Deputy Commissioner of Faridpur. Executive Engineer of DPHE Fahim Hassan Siraji presided and ADC (education & ICT) Md. Anowarul Islam was the chief guest.
Professor Sk. Abdus samad, secretary of Diabetic Association of Faridpur presented the key-note paper on 'Water and Sustainable Development' where several issues on water were focused about the global and country situation relating to paucity of water. The presenter also pointed out some problems of safe water in this district.
Speakers called upon all concerned to reduce the dependence on ground water and put an end to extract ground water for irrigation and other purposes of our daily use.
