Shopper crowding markets ahead of Eid in Chuadanga

CHUADANGA, July 12: The main shopping markets and sidewalk shops in the district town are seen crowded with customers on the occasion of the greatest Muslim religious festival Eid-ul- Fitar.
During visiting some markets in the district town this correspondent saw buyers crowding the markets to buy gifts, cloths, shoes and necessary Eid- items at New Market, Prince Plaza, Malik Tower, Puraton Goli market, Ali Hossain Super market, Kederganj Poura market, Fatema plaza and Rail bazar Sahabuddin market. On footpath were seen occupied by traders and hawkers.
Tailors are passing busy time at the sari tailoring shops since the beginning of the Holy month of Ramadan. Some tailors have already stopped taking order for making new dress.
The higher and middle income people were seen busy with buying their desired dress at the Big Markets while the lower income group of people buying cheap clothes from the footpath shops.
538 tonnes of rice for
the poor people
A BSS report says: The government has allocated 538 tonnes of rice for the distressed and ultra poor people of the district on the occasion of holy Eid-ul-Fitr under Vulnerable Group Feeding (VGF) programme.
District relief and rehabilitation office source said the rice would be distributed to 53,688 VGF cardholders of four upazilas and four pourasabhas in the district.
Of the total rice, 92 tonnes would be distributed among 9,184 cardholders in Sadar upazila, 69 tonnes to 6,854 cardholders in Alamdanga, 179 tonnes to 17,897 cardholders in Damurhuda and 44 tonnes to 4,369 cardholders in Jibannagar upazila.
