Six die in separate incidents in Pabna in two days

PABNA, May 30: Six persons died in separate incidents in different places in Pabna on Friday and Saturday. Of them, two killed in road mishap, two drowned, one fell from tree and another committed suicide.
Two female programme organisers of BRAC were killed and their associate sustained injuries as a truck rammed their motorcycle in front of Santhia Pilot High School of Madhpur on the Bera-Shathia road in Shathia upazila of Pabna on Friday.
The deceased were identified as Muktara Parveen (35), wife of Mahabub, a resident of Faridpur municipality area in Pabna, and Shima Khatun (28), wife of Shjauddula, a resident of Bilmaria village under Lalpur upazila of Natore district. The two dead were programme organisers of BRAC in Santhia office.
In the third incident, two minor boys drowned in a pond at Boubazar village under Chhaikula union in Chatmohar upazila of the district Saturday.
The deceased were identified as Shikha Khatun (7), daughter of Rafiqul Islam, a resident of Katenga Maddahpara, and Arifa Khatun (6), daughter of Bhtta Pramamink, a resident of Katenga Dakkhinpara of the Chatmohar upazila. Both were the students of class two of the local primary school, police siad.
Quoting eyewitnesses police said they went to collect mango during storm near a pond of their house at around 9.00am. Suddenly, the two children fell into the pond and drowned. Locals saw them in an unconscious state and took them to Chatmohar upazila health complex, but the on duty-doctors declared them dead.
In the third incident, an elderly man was killed after falling from a mango tree in Pagla village under Santhia upazila of Pabna on Friday afternoon. The deceased was identified as Noor Hossain (50), son of late Boyeen Mollah of the village Pagla.
Police and victim's family members said Noor Hossain along with other sons climbed a mango tree about 5.30pm. At one stage, he fell down from the tree. Later, he was rushed to local health complex but doctors declared him dead.
In the last incident, a teenage boy committed suicide by   hanging himself from the ceiling of his room over family feud at Nayabari village under Bera upazila of the district Saturday. He was identified as Nazmul Hossain (16) son Abdul Karim Sheikh a resident of the Nayabari.
