JOYPURHAT, July 16 (BSS): A court here today sentenced six people to life-term imprisonment for killing a woman in Sadar upazila of the district in 2008.
Additional District and Sessions Judge Court-1 Judge Md. Nurul Islam pronounced the verdict this afternoon.
The convicts are - Shamsul Huda, Md Mizan, Md Babu, Md Zahidul Islam, Muktadir and Md Sabur, residents of VT village under Sadar upazila of the district.
The court also fined them Taka 50,000 each. In default, they will have to suffer three years more in jail. According to the details of the case, on the night of August 29, 2008, some robbers entered the victim's house in VT village and beat her with a stick and seriously injured her. The robbers looted goods worth Taka 0.29 million (2.92 lakh), gold and mobile phones.
