Storm kills mother, son in Joypurhat

JOYPURHAT, Jun 14 (BSS): A woman and her son were killed and five others injured when a severe storm swept over Kusumba union under Panchbibi upazila and Amdoy union under Sadar upazila of the district Friday morning.

The victims were identified as Zulekha Begum, 26, wife of Azizul Islam and her 7-month son Amanullah of Kashiacapor village under Panchbibi upazila of the district.

According to local sources, Zulekha and her son died on the spot when their house collapsed on them during the storm.

Besides, over 300 dwelling houses were damaged, many trees were uprooted and several tin-shed houses blown away by the storm.
