RAJSHAHI, June 23 (BSS): Speakers at a discussion in Rajshahi unequivocally called for proper enforcement of the amended tobacco control law to free the public places and public transports from smoking for the sake of making the public health free from various non-contagious diseases.
They viewed gross violation of the prevailing Tobacco Control Act continues at the restricted areas including public places and transports threatening public health almost everywhere. There is no alternative to free the transports and places from smoking to protect the non-smokers from passive smoking. Frequent and indiscriminate smoking in the places and transports affect the non-smokers more than those of the direct smokers, they defined.
The observations came at the meeting of Tobacco Control Taskforce Committee held at the conference hall of Deputy Commissioner Tuesday.
