GOPALGANJ, Mar 1: A three-day Kabi Sukanta Mela-2015, began at the ancestral home of the poet at Unasia village under Kotalipara upazila in Gopalganj district Sunday on the occasion of 90th birth anniversary of the poet.
Upazila Administration, Kotalipara, Gopalganj organised the fair. Md. Khalilur Rahman, Deputy Commissioner, Gopalganj, inaugurated the fair as the chief guest.
Book fair, cultural function, Jatra Pala, handicrafts, makeshift stalls and discussion meetings are included in the fair.
A huge number of people, local elite and high officials of the district attended the function.
Sukanta Bhattacharya was born on 15 August 1926 at Kalighat Mohim Halder Street, Kolkata and died on 13 May 1947.
