Sunamganj, Tangail road crashes kill four

A total of four persons were killed in separate road accidents in Sunamganj and Tangail districts on Saturday and Friday night, report agencie.

In Sunamganj, two people were killed and three others injured as a bus rammed into a CNG-run auto-rickshaw on Sunamganj-Sylhet road in Sadar upazila of Sunamganj district on Saturday.

The deceased were identified as Ali Nur, 35, son of Firoz Ali, and Jamir Molla, 33, son of Golab Hossain of the upazila.

The accident occurred around 7 am at Shantiganj Ahsanmara Bridge area when the Dhaka-bound bus from Sunamganj hit the CNG run-auto rickshaw carrying five people, leaving two dead on the spot and three others injured.

The victims included CNG passengers and the driver, said Abdur Rashid Sarkar, officer-in-charge of Joykalash Highway Police Station.

They met the tragic accident while returning to their respective village after attending an Urs-Mahfil in Biswanath upazila of Sylhet district.

The injured were taken to Sunamganj Sadar Hospital.

In Tangail, two were killed when a bus ran over their motorcycle in Kalihati of the district Friday night.

The deceased were identified as Rakib, 26 and Rizvi 28. Both were residents of the Nagarjailfe area of Tangail town.

Bangabandhu Bridge East Police Station Sub-Inspector (SI) Raij Uddin said the accident occurred at around 9 pm in the Dholatengur area of Dhaka-Tangail-Jamuna Bridge highway.

They were returning home from the Jamuna Bridge area on a motorcycle, he siad, adding that on the way, when they reached the Dholatengur area of the highway, a North Bengal-bound bus rammed their bike leaving them dead on the spot.

Their bodies will be handed over to their relatives after the completion of legal proceedings, the SI said.
