Supershine 2760 maize farming gaining popularity in Gopalganj

GOPALGANJ, Mar 27: Supershine 2760 maize cultivation is gaining popularity among the farmers of Latifpur union under Gopalganj district.
According to the DAE, Gopalganj Sadar, a total of 70 bighas of land have been brought under the cultivation of the maize variety with the  production target of 2,500 maunds.
Mizanur Rahman, Sadar upazila agriculture officer, said maize farming is popular in the area.
It requires low cost and ensures a satisfactory return.
Badaruddin Biswas of Charmanikdah village said he is growing Supershine 2760 maize variety on 52 decimals of land this season spending Tk 12,000.
He expects 55 maunds of production which market price is above Tk 55,000.
Some local farmers said Supershine 2760 is a new maize variety.
Growers of the union have started farming the crop for bumper production and more profit.
Nazma Haque, sub-assistant agriculture officer of Charmanikdah Block, maize
cultivation is increasing in the area.
A farmer can get 55 maunds of mazie from one bigha of land.
