GOPALGANJ, Jan 25: The members of the Hindu community celebrated the Swaraswati Puja here in Gopalganj in a befitting manner today (Sunday).
The Puja mandaps were erected in most of the educational institutions of the town.
A large number of Hindu devotees including students and their guardians assembled at the Puja mandaps for offering their prayers to the Goddess. After prayer they distributed Proshad (alms) among the attendants.
A traditional Kabigan on the occasion of Swaraswati Puja was arranged by the devotees of Bangabandu University College at its playground.

BSS reports from Khulna: The members of Hindu community including students today (Sunday) celebrated Swaraswati puja, one of their largest religious festivals, amid much fanfare and festivity in the city including Khulna district.
Puja Mandaps and Temples were illuminated and colourfully decorated in celebration of the festival and hundreds of devotees sought blessings from Swaraswati, the Goddess of knowledge, wisdom, learning, art and music.
Different religious, professional and social organizations organized bani archana, discussion meetings, distribution of prasad, cultural functions and illuminations at temples, educational institutions and other makeshift places for worship as part of celbrating the festival.
Another report from Rajshahi says: The Hindu community today celebrated the Swaraswati Puja with the spirit of pursuing education and knowledge, traditional gaiety and due religious fervour everywhere in Rajshahi.
Puja mandaps, mandirs and a large number of educational institutions have been colourfully decorated as hundreds of devotees seek blessings since morning from the 'Devi Swaraswati', the Goddess of knowledge.
The devotees, especially the students attired in colourful dresses, offered special prayers and observed fasting as per the ritual of the festival to seek knowledge from the Goddess Swaraswati.
