Sylhet tourist sites see thousands of visitors

SYLHET, July 20: Tourist sites in greater Sylhet witnessed thousands of visitors, mostly young from the region as well as all over the country during Eid vacations. Yet there has been rush on all the spots.

Alongside the tea gardens, the two major shrines, Hajrat Shahjalal (RA) and Hajrat Shahporan (RA) also had huge visitors from all over the country amid troubled weather.

Spots like Ratargul Swamp forest, tea gardens in Sylhet, Jafflong, Sreepur tea garden, Lalakhal, Pantumai, Bichhnakandi and Madhabkunda are drawing huge crowd's everyday while amusement spots like Osmani Shishu Park, Adventure World, Dreamland Park, Sylhet Shishu Park etc also got huge visitors since the Eid day.

With a comparatively better weather and recession of rains Monday, all these spots drew the highest number of visitors, mostly the young and children.  

'Seeing Madhabkunda and Jafflong sites enjoyable always, this time we had seen the Ratargul swamp forest', said Ansarul Islam, a private company official from Comilla town. Also we are visiting the shrines of Hajrat Shahjalal (RA) and Hajrat Shahporan (RA), added Ansarul, who, alongwith family members drove to Sylhet Sunday, a day after the Eid.

The rush would continue one or two days more, said assistant manager of the Dreamland Park on Sylhet-Zakiganj road Sumon Ahmed yesterday. However, normal temperature amid light rains for the last few days after days of scorching heat a better feeling for all.

On the other hand, the hotel, rest house and motels are also doing good business as visitors from other districts are there too. Many of them reached Sylhet a day before the Eid day, said a staff of hotel Holyside Md. Abu Hossain at the city's Darga gate area.

Although the only three days off was there on account of Eid this time, many people are enjoying holiday at least till Monday or Tuesday, almost all the hotels are booked, said the assistant commercial officer of the Bangladesh Parjatan Corporation's motel in Sylhet Utpal Roy.
