NETRAKONA, Oct 09 (BSS): The cultivation of Transplanted Aman (T-Aman) paddy has exceeded target in the district during the current season.
Farmers and crops specialists of the district agri office are expecting a bumper production of T-Aman paddy in the district this year.
The Department of Agriculture Extension (DAE) officials said they have set a target to cultivate T-Aman on 1,22,205 hectares of land in the district while the farmers brought 1,34,700 hectares of land under the farming due to favorable climate condition and availability of quality seeds, fertilisers and other agricultural inputs.
Deputy director of DAE M Habibur Rahman said different state-run agencies including BADC and BCIC distributed high quality Aman seed, fertilizers and other agricultural equipments timely among the farmers following the government instruction.
Apart from these, the crops specialists and field-level officials of the DAE rendered field-level services round the clock to let the cultivators know about the modern methods of T-Aman cultivation using latest technologies, he said.
M Rahman said over 0.3 million tonnes of rice is expected to be produced in the season.
