Tagore\\\'s birth anniv observed

GOPALGANJ, May 10: The 153rd birth anniversary of Rabindranath Tagore, a nobel laureate poet and litterateur was celebrated with a befitting manner in Gopalganj on Thursday.

Udichi Shilpi Gosthi, Gopalganj district unit arranged different programmes on the occasion.

In the morning Udichi brought out a Rabindra rally attended by students, teachers and who were singing Rabindra Sangeet and later paraded through main roads of the city.

Rajshahi University

Our Correspondent in Rajshahi University says: The teachers and students of theatre department of Rajshahi University (RU) celebrated the inauguration of the journey of the department and also153rd birth anniversary of poet Rabindranath Tagore amid festivity and much enthusiasm at the campus Thursday.

Earlier there was a composite celebrating department of the theatre and music department at RU.  On April 26, theatre department announced its distinct entity as a new department.

Tagore's celebrating birth anniversary and the department's individual journey at the campus the theatre department observed a day-long programme yesterday.

RU vice chancellor Prof. Muhammed Mizan Uddin as the chief guest unveiled the plaque of the department and inaugurated Tagore's birthday celebration ceremony at the premises of Sayeed Ismail Hossain Sirajee building Thursday morning.

Gaibandha

 A BSS report from Gaibandha says: The 153rd birth anniversary of world poet Rabindranath Tagore was celebrated in the district on Thursday amid much enthusiasm ans festivity.

In celebration of the anniversary, district administrations and Zilla Shilpaka Academy (ZPA) including different socio- cultural organizations chalked out elaborate programmes.
