TANGAIL, Feb 4: Ginger cultivation gaining popularity among the farmers of 12 upazila of the district, as it has proved profitable.
Department of Agriculture Extension Tangail sources informed that a total 1636 hectares of land has been brought under ginger cultivation this year with the production target of 20450 tonnes.
A large number of farmers getting to engaged in ginger cultivation because cultivation cost of it is comparatively less than others corps.
Abdul Salam, a ginger farmer of village Bhutia under Modhupur upazila said he cultivated ginger on his one and half Bigha of land this year and he is hopeful of a bumper production if there is not any natural disaster. Ginger cultivation procedure is very easier than other corps. It can be cultivate at any places.
According to DAE Tangail official sources cultivation of ginger yield increased in recent time in the district as it has proved more lucrative than others corps.
