Tangail, Gaibandha, Panchagarh road accidents kill four


Four persons were killed in separate road accidents in Tangail, Gaibandha and Panchagarh districts on Saturday, report agencies.
In Tangail, a woman and his son were killed being hit by a bus in Jhawaile area under Gopalpur upazila of the district on Saturday.
The deceased were identified as China Begum, 48, wife of late Kamruzzaman Tota, and her son Sakib Miah, 19, of Mouza Dakuri village under Gopalpur upazila of the district.
The accident occurred when Sakib Miah was going to Gopalpur upazila headquarters riding a motorcycle with his mother and collided head-on with a bus coming from the opposite direction in the area around 8am on Saturday morning. They died on the spot, officer-in-charge (OC) of Gopalpur Police Station Emdadul Islam Taiyab said.
Police recovered the bodies from the spot and seized the bus but its driver and helper managed to escape, the OC added.
In Gaibandha, a headmaster of a school was crushed to death under the wheels of a truck on Dinajpur-Gobindaganj highway at Kata area in Gaibandha district Saturday.
The deceased, Lutfor Rahman, 55, was the headmaster of Bairagihat Govt Primary School.
According to his family, he was on his way to Gobindaganj's market to buy groceries for his son's wedding reception programme.
According to locals, the speedy truck ran over his motorcycle and fled the scene, leaving him dead on the spot.
In Panchagarh, a bus driver was killed in a road accident on the Debiganj-Domar highway in Debiganj upazila of the district on Saturday morning.
The deceased was identified as Sumon Islam, 28, son of Hasibul Islam, a resident of Pamuli village of the upazila.
A case was filed in this connection.
