Taraganj cattle rearers passing sleepless nights

RANGPUR, Sept 28: The cattle raisers and farmers of different areas at Taraganj upazila in the district are passing days in anxiety as cattle theft incidents have become rampant in the upazila in recent times.
Some 25 cattle were stolen by the organised gangs across the upazila during last one week, local sources alleged.
Hannan Mia (50), a cattle raiser of Ghanirampur village of the upazila said his house is around 300 yard away from the highway. He said his two cows worth Tk more than one lakh were stolen two days ago. Now he has to face huge financial losses.
Tofazzol, another cattle farmer at Nadirpar village of the upazila said that his all the four bullocks worth Tk around two lakhs were stolen a few days ago. He will not be able to recoup such financial losses, he added
Some affected cattle raisers alleged that many of them sell cow milk and thus earn their livelihood. Now they have become pauper after losing their cattle.
